Sprouts will spend their time cooking fresh produce from the garden.
The Edible Schoolyard Kern County is pleased to announce several new programs for the fall. Embedding our expertise conducting safe educational experiences in our unique, educational garden, Sprouts in the Garden and Fall Camp are both hands on experiential edible education experiences.
Sprouts in the Garden engages children 2-5 in experiences tailored around early garden experiences and learning about plants and xxxx.
Fall Camp, for your budding chef and gardener in grades 1-6 integrates our unique curriculum informed by Alice Water's original Edible Schoolyard Program in Berkeley, CA., and aligned with "Common Core" and Next Generation Science Standards, your student will learn and experience the basics of seasonality and the seed to table cycle as taught and facilitated by our experienced garden and kitchen educators. This includes preparing fresh food they have grown and harvested from our garden.
Your students' health and safety are paramount to us. The Edible Schoolyard Kern County exceeds State and Local health guidelines to assure your children’s safety while attending our programs. This includes staggered drop off and pick up, temperature checks, social distancing while in the garden and kitchen and wearing masks. Our physical space is ideal for these types of programs. A large 1 acre garden and adjourning kitchen provide ample space for students to spread out and to safely engage. Please see the features of both on our website. Due to social distancing requirements, enrollment is limited to 10 students per class.
